Case study

RC Painting & Sons started with an outdated website.

A new site for a second-generation Redmond painting contractor, family owned since 1983, built to show their real work, from homes to high-rises.

The story

  1. Chapter I

    The challenge

RC Painting & Sons already had a website with everything on it: 20 to 25 pages covering their residential painting, their commercial work and all the services in between. It was outdated, though. Stock photos and generic copy told people what RC does without ever showing them. Chase wanted anyone who found the site, whether a general contractor bidding a multifamily building or a family getting a nursery ready, to know at a glance that this is a professional painting company ready for their job. The real challenge was that RC helps so many different people, and each of them needed to find their way to the right pages quickly.

  2. Chapter II

    What I did

We started with what was already there and kept the full range of services and much of the information behind them. Then I rebuilt the site around showing the work instead of listing it. Chase had new images captured of the company's big jobs, so a general contractor can see RC's multifamily and commercial work within moments of arriving. He was just as involved in the words, sharing the real information that makes the site read as honest instead of generic. Rather than asking visitors to sort themselves with a filter, the site speaks each one's language and guides them to the pages written for them. Homeowners have their own path and a dedicated point of contact, so a bedroom repaint gets the same care and attention as a high-rise.

  3. Chapter III

    The result

What I loved most about this project is that Chase never wanted to lose sight of where RC came from. The standard the company was built on in 1983 still runs through every job they take on, from a multifamily building to a garage floor, and now the site shows it in their own work. While I was building it and watching the photos come in, I became convinced they could handle any job. Now anyone who looks them up can see that too. I'm grateful Chase trusted me with his vision, and I can't wait to see where it grows from here.
